Here are the results. As you can see from the photo below some of the vinegar has absorbed into the orange peels.
I dumped out the peels into a bowl and the liquid into a cup.
Some of the peels had turned brownish. These were mainly the peels at the top of the jar.
It's difficult to tell from this photo, but I ended up with only about 2 tablespoons of liquid. It smelled faintly of oranges, & the vinegar smell was less pronounced then before the process. Unfortunately, there wasn't much liquid to test it's cleaning effectiveness. I did wipe down a section of my counter, & it seemed to work okay, but it left a slight residue on the countertop.
Conclusion:
I think I'll just stick with using plain vinegar.
